PPP Rejects Police Request To Postpone Demonstration

The Progressive Peoples Party (PPP) acknowledges receipt of your letter of September 6, 2013 on the above subject matter and wish to respond as follows: 1 .We find your decision not to provide us with the needed Police Protection for our planned demonstration scheduled for September 10, 2013, unacceptable. You state that you are not able to provide us with protection because of a National Security ban on public demonstrations. As far as we are concerned the National Security ban constitutes an infringement on our constitutional rights to express ourselves through demonstrations. 2. Your request for us to reschedule the planned demonstration without offering a time frame constitutes a grave abuse your administrative powers with dire consequences for our corporate plans, aims and objectives. To that end, we regret to inform you that we are not able to accept your request for us to reschedule the demonstration. 3. Our demonstration against corruption will therefore take place as planned. Should you decide to change your mind and cooperate with us we will be happy to welcome your support. Signed Nii Allotey Brew Hammond National Chairman
