Editor of the Insight newspaper, Kwesi Pratt Jr has asked the Progressive People�s Party (PPP) to appeal a decision of an Accra Circuit Court; preventing them from embarking on their �Anti-corruption� demonstration. The Police Administration has secured a court order to stop PPP from embarking on a protest scheduled for today(Tuesday). PPP had wanted to embark on a protest during the election petition case but due to a ban placed on demonstrations by the police; that could not materialize. They (PPP) were therefore amazed to hear that they could still not go on their protest even though the case is over. They vowed to embark on the set demonstration at all cost, unless a court order is issued. The injunction, also asked both parties (Police and PPP) to agree on a favourable date for the demonstration. �For how long are the police going to seek for court order to stop groups from demonstrating. The right to demonstrate is unfettered... what the police are doing is not right. They should be allowed to do their demonstration,� the managing Editor told Kwami Sefa-Kayi on "Kokrokoo", Tuesday. He bemoaned the court�s act of always granting the police court order any time they asked for it, adding; �It is like someone is intentionally preventing groups from demonstrating in the country�. He mentioned that if the police continue in this act of always issuing a court order, democratic freedom and rights of individuals (to demonstrate) will be subverted. �Now it is becoming too much...demonstration is a democratic right of citizens. They (PPP) should appeal against this decision because what is going on is appalling,� Kwesi added.
