Members of the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) have always pointed to the fact that there are power blocs in the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP). This claim has, however, been discounted by the NPP as a figment of the NDC's imagination. But, a leading member of the NPP has stated empathically that �if anyone tells you there is no problem in the party, he is lying because they are using the Alan, Nana factions to destroy the party�. Kennedy Agyapong, Member of Parliament for Assin Central, says he cannot fathom reasons for which one is vilified simply because they want to contest for the flagbearer, even though, the party touts itself as being democratic. ��my worry is that, our party members tout themselves as democrats but I don�t understand why we dislike anyone who expresses interest in contesting. Let everyone contest. If you contest and you lose, I quote from my grandmother, �you would know your bloody fool�. But, what we see is the display of anger anytime a member expresses interest in contesting� ��so I disagree with all what they are doing but I have just kept quiet because I cannot be seen supporting one side against the other since I want peace,� He said. Ken Agyapong was speaking in a telephone interview with Adom Fm, during a discussion on the proposed early congress for the election of a flagbearer for the NPP.
