The GBA Is Politically Biased - Amaliba

A member of the legal team of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Abraham Amaliba, is accusing leadership of the Ghana Bar Association (GBA) of political bias. His accusation follows an analysis by a former President of the GBA, Samuel Okudzeto, that the election petition judgment was flawed. Speaking on The Big Issue, Mr. Amaliba explained that he expected the GBA to condemn Mr Okudzetos comment as it did Tsatsu Tsikatas when the latter also accused a Supreme Court judge, Justice Anin-Yeboah, of political bias shortly after the announcement of the judgment. If this statement Sam Okudzeto were made by me, Amaliba, made by Tsatsu Tsikata, made by Chris Ackumey, you will hear the Ghana Bar Association. They would have descended very heavily on us. They would have used their NPP [New Patriotic Party] executives in the Bar to descend very heavily on us. He further accused the GBA of suffering from selective amnesia saying, "when Tsatsu made his comments about Anin-Yeboah, you saw one Frank Davis who happens to also be a lawyer for the petitioners use that organization to chastise Tsatsu Tsikata. Ive not heard a single word from him as the leader of the Bar in Greater Accra. Mr. Amaliba indicated that the selective amnesia of the GBA is the reason why some of us will not actively participate in their activities until there is a change which will bring about neutrality within that body.
