NPPs Unity In Danger NPP MP

Below is an edited version of an open letter from a Member of Parliament (MP) of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) on the need for the Party to stand firm and be united. For fear of insults from the NPP supporters, we have withheld his identity, the only clue being that he is from one of these two regions Ashanti or Brong-Ahafo. Please read on: Dear Genuine Supporters of the NPP, this open is to draw the attention of genuine supporters of the NPP for the need to all of us to protect the Partys unity. Before we can talk of preserving our unity, we need to face a few truths. Firstly, ex-President John Kufuor must apologize to all those he sacked during his eight-year tenure as President, especially during his second term because they supported Nana Akufo-Addo and not Mr. Alan Kyerematen. If Mr. Kufuor has forgotten, let me remind him of what he told one of the Regional Ministers he dismissed: if you are now on the other side, I will sack you. If your man becomes President, let him make you a Minister. Apart from a few Ministers being sacked, many District Chief Executives (DCEs) were also sacked. Unless the ex-President stops denying that he took such actions, the bitterness will still linger in many hearts. Factionalism by itself is not bad but it is the way and manner it is used that determines the level of divisiveness or togetherness in an organization. Nana Akufo-Addo may not have been aware that some threats by some persons close to him at some of our members who supported Mr. Kyerematen, in the run-up to the 2008 elections may have contributed to the usually high levels of apathy in the Ashanti Region in the 2008 elections. The latest attempt by some elected executives at the regional and national levels to have the NPP elect its 2016 flagbearer ahead of the election of executives at the polling station; constituency; regional and national levels as an unnecessary attempt to create the impression they want to help Nana Akufo-Addo. The truth is that they want to help themselves as they think they are in danger of losing their various executive positions. The fact of the matter is that Nana Akufo-Addo does not need that to show he is popular. Without doubt, if Nana Akufo-Addo decides to contest for the 2016 flagbearership slot, he is likely to win but he question is will he appeal to the floating voters? We must not take our Party unity for granted else My best wishes.
