Various kingpins of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) have started announcing their intention to contest for one position or the other with a few months for the party to go to congress. Notable among them are Kofi Konadu Apraku, former Minister of Trade and Industry during the previous Kufuor administration, eyeing the position of a flagbearer; Samuel Awuku, National Youth Organiser and the list goes on. Meanwhile, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, Alan Kyerematen, Isaac Osei, Dan Botwe, Boakye Agyarko and Prof Frimpong Boateng, have been named as likely candidates for the flagbearership slot by renowned pollster, Ben Ephson. Others include Stephen Asamoah Boateng, Kofi Osei Ameyaw, Joe Ghartey, Dr Richard Anane and Prof. Gyan Baffour. Adding his name to the list, Deputy Director of Communications for the New Patriotic Party (NPP), John Boadu has declared his intention to contest for the position of National Organiser of the party. He made this known on Peace FMs morning show Kokrokoo hosted by Kwami Sefa Kayi. Through the experiences gathered over the years in various leadership capacities, John Boadu is hopeful that he will be able to discharge his duties well when elected. He has also promised to give anyone who contests against him a run for their money. Commenting on other issues of the party especially concerning the proposal to have an early congress, John indicated that there is nothing like an early congress. According to him, the constitution of the party has already spelt out when a congress should be held, hence there is no need to rush. There is nothing like early congress because our constitution clearly gives the date and duration for congress. We have up to December 6 (of 2015) to conduct our congressand so we have enough time to do that; it is still within timeWe should let the sycophancy reduce and speak with an open and honest heart, he indicated.
