Mahamas Mandate Does Not Include Posing For Cameras In Front Of A CNN Signage

Picture of the President John Dramani Mahama posing for the cameras in front of the headquarters of international media house, CNN in Atlanta, USA has got a lot of critics buzzing on social media websites as well as in the media. The circulating photo has exposed the president to a flood of criticism, with many of his critics arguing that Mr. Mahama, by his action, has demeaned the country. Some have even labeled the president as an international model, but Information and Media Relations Minister, Mahama Ayariga, says its no big deal. To him, he does not see how President Mahamas photo pose in front of a CNN signage demeans the country. I mean CNN clearly is a known global brand and they are a major media house, globally, and we had the opportunity to be there to grant interviews to be able to project our issues and issues relating to African and we thank them for that platform and that opportunity. Taking some photographs in front of their signage, I dont see how that demeans a country like Ghana. I think that one really has to work very hard to establish that to just take some photographs in front of CNNs head office by their signage demeans Ghana; I dont see how that demeans Ghana, he stressed. However, speaking to Peacefmonline.com in an exclusive interview, the National Youth Coordinator of the Progressive Peoples Party (PPP), Divine Nkrumah, sought to find out the motive behind the presidency postage of the picture on his (Mahama) Facebook wall. According to him, though taking posing for the cameras is an integral part of human socio existence, the President could have kept the picture in his personal archives to show to others as part of re-living his memorable times since his mandate as Ghanas President is not to take modeling pictures. Because showing of such personal pictures do not add anything to the mandate given to him by Ghanaians, neither does it contribute significantly to the progress of this country, for this does project him as a better president. Ghanaians are less interested in such pictures. What they want to see, are pictures that show developmental projects in Ghana under his stewardship and significant successes the NDC government has chalked, he opined
