Six newly confirmed Municipal and District Chief Executives ( MDCE)'s in the Upper West Region have been sworn into office with a call on the new appointees to strive to make a distinction between governance and political party activities. That, according to the Upper West Regional Minister, Dr Ephraim Avea Nsoh, would enhance governance and enable them to fulfill the needs of the people. He further urged the MDCEs to create opportunities for sustainable jobs, improve healthcare as well as the performance of other state agencies at the district level. Addressing a durbar of well wishers and sympathisers after the swearing in ceremony, Dr Nsoh impressed upon the new appointees to pursue the vision of President Mahama of ensuring "A stable, united, inclusive and a prosperous country". They are the new Wa Municipal Chief Executive, Mr Nuhu Putia, the Nadowli District Chief Executive, Mr John Bosco Bomaansan, Lambussie - Karni, Boon Kofi Dyakah, Daffiama-Bissie- Issa, Mr Phidelis Zumakpe, the Jirapa District Chief Executive, Miss Vivian Kunkuo and the Lawra District Chief Executive, Mr Pascal Dere. "My vision as a regional minister is also to make the Upper West Region a model region with functional district assemblies with opportunities for all" Dr Nsoh added. He again advised the MDCEs not to interfere in the duties of security agencies while it carried out it legitimate duties. On the differences between members of the Sisala East district assembly, the regional minister called for a ceasefire and appealed to the chiefs, opinion leaders, Member of Parliament ( MP), among other stakeholders from the area to intervene and unite the people. He said the people of the region and for that matter the Sisala East district, could not continue to tear themselves apart when other districts seeing to their infrastructural development. A Member of the Council of State, Naa Seidu Braimah, advised the appointees to be focused and wary of sycophants and hypocrites. He added that they must intermittently confer with the respective traditional rulers when the need arose. The newly sworn in Wa Municipal Chief Executive ( MCE), Mr Nuhu Putieha, on behalf of his colleagues thanked President Mahama for the opportunity and gave the assurance that they would work hard to achieve his vision.
