NPP Will Stay In Opposition For Long If. - Nkrabeah Effah-Dartey

An aspiring General Secretary of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Captain (Rtd) Nkrabeah Effah-Dartey has warned that the NPP risk staying in opposition for a long time if the factions within the party are not disbanded. He noted with deep regret that the power blocs within the NPP caused its electoral defeat in 2008 and 2012. Let us look for members of our party who can deliver the results we want; after all it is power we want as a party so why should we classify this or that candidate as belonging to this or that faction; what we need now is unity for the party to move forward as one party. Captain (Rtd) Nkrabeah Effah-Dartey was addressing the media in Accra at the official launch of his campaign for the NPP General Secretaryship. According to the former Member of Parliament for Berekum, the NPP needs a new crop of militant leaders to win power in 2016. We need a brand new crop of militant fighting leaders not to shoot guns but ready and capable to carry us through the next phase of our struggle to win power for the New Patriotic Party. He impressed upon the partys delegates to reject power seekers whose unguarded utterances in the past caused embarrassment to the party. The former Deputy Minister for Interior under the erstwhile Kufuor led NPP administration insisted that the party cannot afford to lose power in 2016. He cautioned NPP delegates against making the wrong choices of leadership for the party at the various levels. What we need now and today is a new General Secretary to be in the engine room of our party and I solemnly offer myself as your faithful servant to carry out the task so as to win power for the New Patriotic Party in 2016. Campaigning on the mantra alert and win, Captain (Rtd) Effah Dartey said, The price of democracy is eternal vigilance and so we should leave no stone unturned and we must not take anything for granted; from the opening of the voters register, the compilation of the voters list, the selection of presiding officers, polling assistants at every level of the game, it is alert and win-alert and win.
