Open Brawl @ NIBStaff Bloodies Customer Over GH10 False Alarm'

Samuel Owuraku Hushie, an account holder of the Abeka branch of the National Investment Bank (NIB), a fortnight ago was heftily beaten by some staff of the Bank, over a false alarm that the former was a thief. According to Owuraku-Hushie, he visited the bank to withdraw some monies, when I got there I did not know how much exactly was in my account, so I went to one of the tellers and she checked my accountshe wrote on a piece of paper that I had only GH64.1 wanted to withdraw GH60 so I filled in my withdrawal sheet and I sent to the banks accountant for verification. She gave me the go-ahead to withdraw, so I further took it to another teller for withdrawal. After the teller had withdrawn the money and handed it over to me, she said I should give her back GH10, because I had over-withdrawn, and that she would credit my account with the money. Narrating ordeal to this reporter, the former Accra Polytechnic student, said, in the course of the verbal exchanges with the bank teller, he requested that even if he would deposit back the GH10, he expected it to be document, but the teller insisted that he gave back the money, or she would call in the security to arrest him. In fact, I felt abused when she started calling me a thief, so I left the banking hall, and on my way out, I heard hr shouting that the security should get me arrested, and that I was a thief. The security man then-on duty held me, and then followed the bank teller, who gave me the heftiest slap I have ever. He continued that As I struggled to get them off me, I felt another hefty blow from a police man, then also on duty at a near-by Bank. Their security officer also begun punching me with blows, whilst the teller looked on and kept shouting and calling me a thief. I was not spared at all by other on-lookers, as they also hit me with anything they could lay hands on. Blood oozed all over my face, the police officer the handcuffed me and sent me back to the banking hall. But when this reporter contacted the Banks Manager for his reaction, Mr. Felix Twum-Darko said although he was not at the scene, he spoke to some customers after the incident and they said the teller did not any way call the customer a thief. According to him, although the incident happened outside the banking hall, he personally took responsibility of taking Samuels family the following day and apologized for any inconveniences caused. But Samuel, in a quick rebuttal said he was never taken to hospitalby any official from the bank, but was rather given five tin of Ideal Milk, Tea-leafs and sugar, during their visit.
