PURC Must Overcome Recurrence Of Maladministration

Dr. Tony Aidoo, Head of Policy Monitoring and Evaluation at the Presidency, wants the Public Utilities and Regulatory Commission (PURC) to efficiently execute its duties. To him, the posture of the PURC on the utility tariffs reveals their lack of efficiency. Speaking on Radio Golds "Alhaji and Alhaji" programme on Saturday, Dr. Tony Aidoo implored the PURC to regulate the utility providers and ensure that they work assiduously. The PURC is not only an arbiter of tariffs and so on. It is a regulator and therefore it must fulfill the regulatory part of its functions to the satisfaction of Ghanaians. It must impose on the utility providers their obligation that you must do better than what youre doing. he said, adding that the Commission must overcome its "recurrent process of maladministration and inefficiency." He therefore wants the tariff increments to reflect in the work of the utility providers.
