No one needs to consult the oracle to know that Nana Addo Dankwah Akufo-Add, the twice failed Presidential candidate, will run again for the flagbearership slot of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) for the 2016 presidential elections. Otherwise, by now, he will have put it beyond doubt that he will not contest. We would have also seen an heir apparent to succeed him, perhaps in the person of Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia. Therefore, the indices categorically show that Nana Addo will present himself for a third time, at least the report we are receiving from his base in the United Kingdom (UK), clearly shows that he is feverishly soliciting for funds to launch a third time bid. Whether he gets the nod to represent NPP or not is something that is open to prediction. A catalogue of Nana Addo�s accomplishments in his capacity as a Minister of Justice and Attorney General and Foreign Affairs, under the able leadership of John Agyekum Kufuor, shows abysmal poor performance. His performance again as a presidential candidate in both the 2008 and 2012 elections shows a man who is moving from grace to grass. The NPP under Kufuor won elections in more than five regions, under the stewardship of Nana Addo, between 2008 and 2012, the party�s fortunes has been dwindling, even in his own region, the party is only able to manage to win two Regions. Normally, based on these performance indicators, no sane person can approach the Delegates for another chance to lead them, but trust Nana Addo to try his last card. We have a saying in this country that goes like � y3 yi wo afri agoro mo a, wosi aka ma sa baako,� to wit when you have been sacked from a dancing competition, you say you are left with one last dance. Why do you save your best dance for last? Unfortunately in politics, people listen to so many voices, which are often misleading, if you doubt me ask Hassan Ayariga, Presidential candidate of the Peoples National Convention (PNC), what motivated him to contest for the 2012 elections. He was told he will win the elections, when he clearly knew that was an impossible miracle, even for T.B Joshua to perform. Nana Addo has been a victim of that same fate; his inordinate desire to be President has been thought of and hatched even before I was born. It is more like an ego trip that is leading him nowhere. A lot of people have told him that he will be President at all cost, what they forgot to tell him is that not in Ghana, but in another country or in another life. He is being misled again into believing that he could win the 2016 elections, by people who are by themselves motivated by their selfish agenda. A good leader is one who is able to tell when the time is up for him or her to take a back seat, and accept the reality. Nana Addo is refusing to tell himself that he is no longer relevant in our political discourse, he has outlived his usefulness. We don�t want a President in a wheel chair. His electoral fortune dwindled in the 2012 elections, from a figure of a little over 10,000 votes against late President John Evans Atta Mills in 2008 to over 300,000 votes to President John Dramani Mahama in 2012. What does 2016 hold in stock for him? If not humiliation. A man whose life ambition eluded him deserves my sympathy; unfortunately I don�t hold any sympathy for Nana Addo. I am saying this because Nana Addo�s quest to become President has assumed a selfish agenda, if not is he the only person in NPP, who is qualified and capable of leading the party. The NPP must as a matter of urgency provide Ghanaians with an alternative to President John Dramani Mahama and the National Democratic Congress (NDC). Nana Addo has proven over time not to be a worthy opponent, even when you think he is making any impact, he ends up disappointing. In the 2012 elections, Nana Addo seemed to have provided a clear cut policy that he could be held to had he won and failed to deliver, i.e. his promise of free Senior High School (SHS) education, yet Ghanaians who are known for their penchant for free things rejected it. Is it a case of Ghanaians not trusting him or they simply do not like him? Arguably, he is among the finest politicians this country has ever had. Growing up, if someone had told me Nana Addo will not be President, I will tell the person he or she does not belong here, but as it is said man proposes, God disposes. Perhaps it is about time he accept the fact that the Presidency will remain an illusion to him. The NPP by even entertaining the idea of a third time bid for Nana Addo, means they are no men in the party to lead it. Ghana will not die if Nana Addo does not become President. The NPP will not cease to exist if he does not become President, so they have to get over him. Thank God, Alan Kwawdo Kyeremanteng has indicated his preparedness to run for the primaries of the party. It is instructive because it means they are people ready to lead the party to victory, after Nana Addo�s loss in 2008 and 2012. Alan is the future of the party; the Delegates must do away with sentiments and know that Ghana is Bigger than Nana Addo. Nana has become like a �Konongo Kaya�, he can�t carry and he is not allowing somebody else to. Power is not like wealth, which they say chooses its own path and its entry a mystery as its exit in a man�s life. Some have mastered power in Ghana and its art, thus appear to have conquered it of their own accord. That may explain why Margret Thatcher had to say, �Being in power is like being a lady; if you have to say you are you aren�t�. Great men and women court power, Nana Addo has failed to court it, he rather want to take it by force, please it is not �all-die-be-die. If you don�t have it, you don�t.
