Resignations Galore At Merchant Bank

There are reports that scores of Merchant Bank staff have begun tendering their resignations following the banks takeover by Fortiz. Some staff of the bank, who pleaded anonymity, say uncertainty over job security and doubts over whether new owners Fortiz would be able to improve the fortunes of the bank led to the move. The officials have tender their resignations despite assurances from new owners Fortiz that it would not embark on any massive lay-off and would initiate measures to revive the ailing bank. The resignations are said to run through both senior and junior level staff. Meanwhile, some board members of the bank have also tendered their resignations. Two non-executive members of the board, Seth Kwesi Dei and Dr Bill Puplampu, were the first to tender their resignations. The board members were given up to the end of this month by the new owners to tender their resignations. A new board is expected to be reconstituted by the end of this month.
