Patriotism Or "Mahamism"?: Ghana Supporters Don �Prez Mahama�s T-Shirt� In Cairo To Support Black Stars

Perhaps millions of Ghanaian soccer fanatics who watched the crucial FIFA World Cup qualifier match between the Black Stars and the Pharaohs of Egypt were shocked to have seen a group of supporters airlifted to Egypt clad in President John Dramani Mahama�s customized T-shirt. Before the awaited match, the Presidency sent supporters to the volatile Egyptian capital for the clash. The President however gave the approval after being briefed on arrangements to ensure maximum safety for the Ghanaian delegation in Cairo. Upon their (Supporters) arrival in Cairo, it was alleged that, some government officials had arranged for a personalized �Mahama T-shirt� to all the supporters to don and cheer the Black Stars instead of the national �Red, Gold and Green� outfits or Black Stars replica jerseys. 3D Cameras at the stadium fortunately captured some joyful supporters clad in the alleged �Mahama T-shirt� when Kevin-Prince Boateng scored in the last minute of the game. This raised many questions as to whether Black Stars is now President Mahama�s personal property or the nation�s own. Ghana qualified for the World Cup finals on Tuesday evening, despite losing 2-1 away to Egypt in the second leg of their CAF play-off. The comprehensive 7-3 aggregate win means Ghana have qualified for their third consecutive World Cup, while Egypt have not made the finals since 1990.
