Sacked Duncan Should Have Apologised Hearts Coach Polo

The former Ghana international, who has been assigned to take charge of the Phobians until the end of the Ghana league season, feels an apology could have saved Duncan his job. Newly appointed coach of Hearts of Oak, Mohammed Ahmed Polo, has said a simple apology by his predecessor David Duncan could have changed the board members decision to fire him. Speaking to Uniiq FM after he was confirmed as manager of the capital-based club on Monday, Polo said even though it is a challenging job, his aim is to restore the Phobian glory with a new approach to technique. Its unfortunate David Duncan had to leave at this time, but I think he should have been apologetic (to the board) for bygones to be bygones, the ex-Ghana international said. Duncan who replaced C.K Akunnor in November 2012 as Hearts of Oak manager was able to change the fortunes of the Phobians within a short while. But a frosty relationship between him and the clubs board led to his dismissal amidst protests from the fans. Polo who is a former player of the team said his target is to get the team to the highest level. My target for the season is to get to the highest level as far as any competition is concerned both in Ghana and Africa, he said. He added that he feels proud to have been chosen among a good number of shortlisted coaches, but he decided to accept the job because he wanted to save the current situation of the team.
