Ghana Gospel Industry Awards Set For December 22

This years edition of the Ghana Gospel Industry Awards (GGIA) will take place at the National Theatre in Accra on December 22, at 8:00pm prompt. The event which was instituted some years ago by Adom FM, an Accra-based radio station, seeks to foster the development of the Ghanaian gospel music industry and reward those in the industry who have excelled in their gospel music career. This year, according to the organisers, 16 industry players will be rewarded for their hard work, dedication and contribution to the gospel music industry. Although the gospel industry can arguably be said to provide the biggest chunk of the revenue cake for the music industry, its players unfortunately do not get the recognition they deserve, especially when it comes to awards. According to Lawrence Tamakloe of the Events and Promotions Desk of Adom FM, the awards are aimed at celebrating and awarding excellence in the gospel music industry in Ghana. The GGIA seeks to celebrate the works of the gospel music industry; to showcase the talent, innovation and success of the nations gospel artistes, he said. He noted that the awards, which is an annual event, is also aimed at raising the standard of Ghanaian gospel music, adding that this years event is expected to attract a large number gospel musicians and the stakeholders in the music and copyright sector as well as gospel music fans across the country.
