'You Dont Just Receive Things Without Asking Where It's Coming From' - Ogbamey

Mr. Alfred Ogbamey, Managing Editor of the Defunct Gye Nyame Concord has questioned why the Ghana Journalist Association (GJA) did not seek to find out where the laptops were coming from when it was given to them. Why didnt GJA; our own mother organization question where the laptops were coming from; PRINPAG (Private Newspaper Publishers Association of Ghana) also didnt find out. You dont just receive things without asking where it is coming from and what it is meant for. The disbursement of the Media Development Fund instituted by government in 2011 out of which came laptops has recently become controversial as some media houses have not received their share of the laptops. According to the GJA when the laptops were given to them to distribute, they were told that they were RLG distribution to media houses in the country. They later found out that they were procured from the GHC 1M Media Development Fund. Speaking to Kwami Sefa-Kayi on Kokrokoo Thursday, Alfred said he blames the hullabaloo surrounding the disbursement of the fund on GJA for not demanding to know where those laptops were coming from. These are institutions; the mother organization had a duty to probe further even though it might be true that they may have taken it in ignorance.
