Thuggery In NDC: Kwabena Adjei And Portuphy Factions Must Cease Fire

A member of the ruling NDC Communication team has called on the supporters of the partys Chairman, Dr. Kwabena Adjei and national coordinator of National Disaster Management Organization (NADMO), Mr. Kofi Portuphy, to cease fire. According to Gabby Assumeng who spoke in an interview with Peacefmonline.com, both men who are leading members of the NDC are competent enough to lead the party and therefore expression of support for any of them should be done in a way and manner which will not bring division in the party. My reason is that, we dont want to go the way the NPP is going. We also dont want a reoccurrence of the events leading up to the 2012 election. I mean the FONKAR GAME issues, since they are still fresh on our minds. Members of the party would attest to the division that it brought into the party and I know we would not want to tow that line again leading up to the 2016 elections, he argued. Gabby Assumengs comments come on the heels of two emerging groups in the party, namely; Kwabena Adjei For Continuity (KAFCO) and Eastern For Portuphy (EFOP). Both groups have recently engaged in exchanges, which many believe could destroy the personalities they are campaigning for and by extension damage the image of the National Democratic Congress (NDC). The latest being a press conference addressed by the secretary of KAFCO, Michael Adombire Asabre in Koforidua. The group explained that Dr. Adjeis achievements are unprecedented in the history of the NDC having led the party to win the 2008 and 2012 elections, as well as the Supreme Court Election Petition case. They said under the leadership of Wayo Wayo, as the national chairman is affectionately called, there had been unity in the NDC which has made it become more formidable to win the 2016 elections. And, therefore, such a winning coach need to be maintained for the next general election. The group further issued a firm warning to any individual or group that intends to soil the good name of Dr. Kwabena Adjei. They cited the Eastern For Portuphy group led by Richard Etornam, for its unnecessary attacks on Dr. Kwabena Adjeis personality as a bad example which must not be countenanced. But, Gabby Assumeng is of the view that campaigns can always be done devoid of insinuations, insults and innuendos. He further advised the youth to channel their energies into helping President Mahama achieve the better Ghana Agenda and by so doing their preferred candidate would have an easy task of steering the affairs of the party, if elected into the chairmanship position.
