Massive Boost As Ghana Premier League To Announce New Sponsors Next Week

Ghanas top-flight league clubs will witness a huge lift next week when a new title sponsor is announced, the Ghana FA president Kwesi Nyantakyi has revealed. Some clubs in the Ghana Premier League are saddled with huge debts in the wake of Glos failure to pay their outstanding sponsorship amount due the league. The GFA has long reached a deal with a new sponsor for the top-flight but the sticking has been the percentage to be paid to the brokers of the deal. But Nyantakyi says they have resolved to go ahead and accept the deal to enable the clubs get some money which will hugely boost their coffers. We had settled on one outfit to take over as the new title sponsor of the Premier league, the Ghana FA president said. However, we faced a challenge at the FA committee meeting over the percentage commission to be allotted those who brokered the deal on our behalf. That has been sorted now and I think we can go ahead to unveil the new sponsor even from next week, Nyantakyi added. The new sponsor will get the needed massive publicity which will involve branding on continental broadcasters SuperSport as well as free radio adverts as agreed by radio stations across the country for commentary on matches. With several clubs failing to attract supporters and their own sponsors they have only relied on the GFAs getting sponsors for the league to finance their clubs. Just last week two clubs King Faisal and New Edubiase threatened to boycott the league over the lack of sponsorship which is affecting their operations. Despite the monies from television rights holders SuperSport the clubs have been unable to stay afloat which led to their decision which was opposed by the remaining 14 clubs. The clubs have been accused of failing to support sponsors by giving the necessary exposure which has been the problem for sponsors of the league.
