Were Determined To Go Past The Group Stage Jordan Opoku

Local Black Stars Captain and Asante Kotoko midfielder Jordan Opoku has hailed his team mates for recording a win in their opening match at the 3rd African Nations Championship (CHAN)in South Africa. Theophilus Annobaahs 34th minute goal was enough to give Maxwell Konadus side the three points against Congo in their opening game. Jordan told Ghana Sports in a telephone conservation from their base in South Africa that the players are focused on winning their remaining matches in the tournament and have taken stock of the challenge awaiting them. He said playing against locally-based players from other countries is one of the difficult tasks but having played the game for long, the Ghana team is determined to win the trophy for the first time. I am happy we won our opener against a well-determined side, who had had good preparation before coming to the tournament. The Congo team is a tough team and they can pull a surprise in the group. He continued: For us, the work has just begun and we will do our possible best to qualify Ghana through the group stages because we have promised ourselves, we want to go far in the CHAN. Remember our maiden edition, we came second to DR Congo and this time we began the tournament with Congo, it means, were going far. Ghana play Libya, who shocked Ethiopia 2-0 in their opener today (Friday).
