After his shocking death on Saturday January 18, 2014 in London, tributes have been pouring in from various high profile personalities from Ghana, Africa and all over the world in honour of the late Ghanaian international Journalist, Komla Dumor. While most of his media colleagues in Ghana are paying tributes to him on their respective platforms, others have also taken to social media. Below are tributes from some media colleagues and friends. 2013 BEST JOURNALIST OF THE YEAR, MANASSEH AZURE AWUNI: Komla was one of those people who had genuine interest in my career. Despite his busy schedule, he had time to initiate discussions with me on stories I was doing, notably GYEEDA and the Korle-Bu investigations. He offered advice and suggested areas I could explore. He became like a caring elder brother and I am missing him like a father. If any war could ever bring Komla Dumor back to life, I would certainly be a fighter, whether in a formidable army or a rebel movement. BROADCASTER AND ENTREPRENEUR KOJO OPPONG: Kojo Oppong Nkrumah recalled how he grew up listening to Komla Dumor from 1997 to 2007 when he left for the BBC. "I think I was in JSS 3 at the time", he recalls. Kojo Oppong Nkrumah said he once called into a DJ Black programme where Komla Dumor was a guest. Kojo revealed his admiration for the man called the 'Boss Player" and told him, he would like to be like him. He remembers Komla encouraged him to push himself and work hard. "He was a teacher, a mentor.... I just loved his confidence; I just loved his sense of forthrightness. Komla was very committed to the job" - a refrain running through all the tributes flowing in. "He is irreplaceable". SOCIALITE AND BUSINESS WOMAN CONFIDENCE HAUGEN: It was October 1999 when I first met him for my first ever radio interview during my Miss Ghana days and I remember he calmed me down before the interview. The last time I saw him was about three weeks ago inside Aphrodisiac night club and he congratulated me for how far I have come in life and he promised to interview me on BBC. Oh! So now that Komla Dumor is gone who will interview me on BBC? Komla�s death has really thought me that anybody at all can die at any time irrespective of your age, your achievements, educational status, no matter how much money or power one has; you will definitely go one day. I cannot think of a bigger blow. TELEVISION PRESENTER AND SINGER AMANDA JISSIH: Komla was a good guy so down to earth and always encouraged me to follow my passion and dreams and he told me never to waste my voice after the first time he heard me on radio. He sat me down and shared his life experience and assured me that all will be well someday. My second at Joy FM...He was always in touch, teaching me what I need to look out for to become a better presenter. He had a good heart and he was a very honest person. He never looked down on anybody. I am glad to have met him and I have lost a dear brother and a friend. Am speechless. God has better plans for him and can�t question God. Who am I?
