FIRST NATIONAL Launches Mobile Banking Vans

With the emerging of new strategy and technology in the banking sector, First National Savings and Loan has introduced a new dimension in the Mobile banking by using Vans to transact businesses with both existing and new customers. According to statistics, 70% - 80% of Ghanaians are unbanked and most of these people are in the rural and suburban areas; thus, the introduction of mobile or branchless banking through the use of mobile vans, these unbanked people can be served easily at their doorstep. Speaking in an interview with Peacefmonline.com, the Chief Executive Officer of First National Savings and Loan, Mr. Patrick Anumel disclosed that the purpose of the mobile van banking is to find alternatives to the frustration customers go through at the banking hall. According to him, these vans will move to market places, shopping centers, lorry stations, churches and public functions to engage the customers in business transactions. He stressed that with the emerging of mobile vans, customers can still withdraw from their accounts, deposit into their accounts, transfer from one account to another at First National and also transfer of funds from one person to another in First National accounts.
