John Mensah Joins Asante Kotoko

Former Ghana captain John Mensah is set to join Ghana Premier League giants Asante Kotoko on a short term deal, Ghana Sports can exclusively confirm. The 31-year-old has been without a club since leaving French Ligue 1 side Stade Rennes at the end of last season but is eager to regain his form to earn a place in the Ghana squad for the 2014 World Cup. Though Kotoko are yet to officially announce the deal, the towering former Sunderland defender has reportedly agreed a six-month deal with the Porcupine Warriors. Ghana FA regulations would not permit the powerful to register him for Kotoko but our sources can confirm that due to Mensah importance to Ghana's World Cup campaign, the FA will be ready to register him to enable his availability for Kotoko if he agrees the deal. Ghana coach Kwesi Appiah has stated in the past that he would give equal chances to all active players to play for the Black Stars.
