Stanbic To Hold Second Investors Conference

The second edition of Standard Bank West African Investors Conference would be held in Accra on Monday, February 3 with investors across the globe expected to participate. The conference is to enable investors to get first-hand information from listed companies on the Ghana Stock Exchange. The event, which is held in various markets by the Standard Bank Group, the parent company of Stanbic Ghana, was first held in Ghana in 2013. Briefing a cross-section of the media ahead of the event, Mr Fouad Idun-Ogde, Head of SBG Securities Ghana Limited said the conference would provide a platform for investors from across the world to get information on the outlook of the Ghanaian economy, and the securities industry to help them make informed decisions. He said a direct meeting with companies would provide investors the opportunity to get detailed information on the performance, plans and the future outlook of listed companies, as well as to have their concerns addressed by those companies. Mr Idun-Ogde said besides the financial reports, the conference would provide an opportunity for investors to get answers to questions they might have about companies they might want to invest in. He said the overall objective of the conference sought to boost the interest of investors in the listed equities and improve liquidity on the Ghana bourse. Mr Idun-Ogde said apart from the listed companies, the conference would give opportunity to a number of non-listed companies, which had plans to list to have direct meeting with investors. He said apart from the plenary session, investors would hold one-on-one meetings with officials of participating listed companies drawn from the various sectors. The Ghana Stock Exchange is the second best performing market in Africa after Malawi, with a 55 per cent return in dollar terms.
