Adentan MP Slams Critics

The Member of Parliament for Adentan Constituency, Emmanuel Nii Ashie Moore has slammed his critics for what he described as unformed attack on his personality and work as parliamentarian. He pointed out Name-calling and abusive acts to undermine my office as an MP would be unfruitful venture and the earlier those engaging it stop, the better A statement issued in reaction to press conference by The Concern Citizens Adentan , Hon Ashie Moore said the allegation by the so-called group who appears to have no idea about the functions of the General Assembly Body of the Adentan Municipal Assembly (AdMA) that our Assembly Members had thwarted two private projects namely, the Adjiringanor cemetery and Aviation projects exposes them as sell-outs. He stated categorically that all the allegations leveled against him are palpable falsehoods and were fabricated by mischievous an attempt to ruin my efforts of the Adenta Dream. Hon Ashie Moore also noted the claim by the group in their statement to the media that I have done nothing in my first year in office as a Member of Parliament is not only laughable but also suggests that either none of its members leave in the constituency or they have blind themselves to the developments that are springing up in the constituency. What they may not know is that most of these development initiatives are funded from my own pocket and from my own toils and not even from my share of the District Assemblys common fund. Below Is The Full Statement REJOINDER INVESTIGATE THE CONDUCT OF THE MEMBER OF PARLIAMENT FOR ADENTAN CONSTITUENCY. My attention has been drawn to some allegations leveled against me by a group calling itself Concerned Citizens of Adenta during their press conference held on Monday 27 day of January 2014. Much as I consider their allegations to be unworthy of my time, I find it important to debunk them and set the record straight for the good people of Adenta who have confidence in me and elected me overwhelming to represent them in Parliament to be assured that no amount of obstruction would truncate my dream to make Adenta a better Constituency. To start with, I would like to state categorically that all the allegations leveled against me are palpable falsehoods fabricated mischievously and calculated in an attempt to ruin my efforts of the Adenta Dream. Anyone who leaves in Adenta have seen the tireless efforts I have been putting in to ensure Adenta gets its fair share of developmental projects since becoming the Member of Parliament for the Constituency barely a year ago. Indeed, if the so called group, Concerned Citizens of Adenta are worthy of the name they have bestowed on themselves, they would have sought clarification on most of the issues they raised from appropriate sources and perhaps they would have noted that calling on members of the inky fraternity to advance to tarnish my image was a nothing but mediocrity. The claim by the group in their statement to the media that I have done nothing in my first year in office as a Member of Parliament is not only laughable but also suggests that either none of its members leave in the constituency or they have blind themselves to the developments that are springing up in the constituency. What they may not know is that most of these development initiatives are funded from my own pocket and from my own toils and not even from my share of the District Assemblys common fund. I have attached to this REJOINDER, a list of developmental initiatives and programmes being undertaken by my office including those that have been set in motion within one year of my representation of the people of Adenta in advancement of the Better Ghana Agenda promised by His Excellency President John Mahama led National Democratic Congress (NDC) governments. We promised the people of Adentan massive development and I being the peoples representative will be the last person to deny the very same people whose socio-economic well-being is our call. The allegation by the so-called group who appears to have no idea about the functions of the General Assembly Body of the Adentan Municipal Assembly (AdMA) that our Assembly Members had thwarted two private projects namely, the Adjiringanor cemetery and Aviation projects exposes them as sell-outs. At this point I humbly suggest to them to educate themselves with the local governments Act and the District Assemblies regulations before trading their ignorance in public. As representatives of the people, it is our responsibility to ensure that in whatever actions the district takes the best interest of the people should be the determining factor. Hence as much as we are yearning for development in Adentan, every single developmental project, programmes or a document that comes to floor of the house should be well scrutinized to serve the best interest of the masses and not a few privileged once. In the case of the Aviation land project, the Assembly in its last sitting decided to halt the proposed business centre project to enable members and the consultants to meet and finalize the proposal which would be a win win situation for all. What this group fails to understand is that development is not all about putting up high rise buildings, shopping malls, and shops for the affluent. The priorities of the people of Adentan are schools, hospitals, affordable/low houses, potable water etc. The well-being of the masses should be our uttermost priority. NDC is for the masses; hairdressers, carpenters, masons, mechanics, dressmakers and the petty traders who were working on the aviation land to make a living to support themselves and their family are those we should find a way to build their capacity to become more useful to the society. I would like to stress that my office is always open to accommodate constructive ideas that can advance the interest of Adenta and our people as a whole. I have promised to make myself available to my constituents to be comfortable to discuss the challenges we have in the constituency and together find a common solution. I therefore call on the Concern Citizens of Adenta to avert their mind to the changes and good foundations being laid to advance our common interest. Name-calling and abusive acts to undermine my office as an MP would therefore be an action in futility. Thank you for your usual cooperation. EMMANUEL NII ASHIE MOORE (HON.)
