Recent happenings and public spat from dancehall artiste, Shatta Wale (Charles Nii Armah Mensah Jnr), and his manager, Bulldog (Lawrence Nana Asiama Hanson) seem to suggest that all is not well in their stable.
The usual rapport, effective communication and understanding that are supposed to exist between artiste and manager are obviously absent between the two.
Since Bulldog assumed the managerial position, the two have hardly been in sync with regards to their words and actions within the public domain � they simply seem to be confused. The observation has heightened the talk of Bulldog not commanding the usual managerial control and influence on Shatta Wale.
There have been countless situations where the artiste and manager have released contrary statements and exhibited different body postures on a number of issues. On 18th January, 2013, Shatta Wale together with Bulldog were hosted on Peace fm�s Entertainment Review� and when the issue of the Ghana Music Awards came up, the two were not in concurrence on the subject.
Shatta Wale asserted that he had not sent any of his songs for possible nominations in the 2014 Ghana Music Awards, an assertion his manager disputed by claiming he had submitted songs for nominations. �If you have sent in my songs for nominations, then you should be ready to patronize anything to do with the awards,� the artiste told his manager.
On the February 1, 2014, the same show hosted self-acclaimed African Dancehall King, Samini with Shatta Wale calling into the show in a gesture that seemed to portray some truce in the long-standing squabble between the two. A couple of days after, the artiste tweeted, �Now the self acclaimed human being wants to have a sitting with the so-called dog� Imao.�
When Bulldog was called on the show 6th February 2014 and asked about the tweet, he retorted. �I follow my artiste on twitter but for some days I have not checked what he put there.� Earlier in the interview, Bulldog reminded listeners of the role of manager, �The manager is supposed to manage every aspect of the artiste�s career.
On the same show, Bulldog frantically supported the move to ensure the squashing of whatever �beef� existed between the two popular artistes. �I support the call for truce but we should not dwell on the past, we ought to focus on the future,� he said � but contrary to the stance of his manager, Shatta Wale called into the show and for the umpteenth time, he disagreed with his manager. �I am not going to sit down with Samini for any discussion. I love the pertaining tension,� He fumed.
