VALS DAY: Buy Chocolate More Than Condoms

So soon it is another Valentines Day and as usual many are expected to show love to their loved ones. In Ghana, Valentines Day is marked as the National Chocolate Day to promote our locally manufactured chocolates but often that is not the case. When (peacefmonline.com) went round Thursday to have a feel of pre-valentines day on the market, we realized that most of the shops were flooded with foreign chocolates relegating our own Golden Tree Chocolate. Commenting on Valentines Day and the use of the Ghanaian chocolate, Rapper Okyeame Kwame asked love birds to patronize the Golden Tree chocolate and use it as a symbol of love. Buy chocolate more than condoms he urged. Okyeame Kwame who is organizing a blood donation exercise said in an interview on Thursday: its a shame that a cocoa producing country like Ghana has a few people patronizing the Golden Tree chocolate or any other Ghana-made cocoa product. In view of this he strongly feels instead of buying condoms on Valentine's Day, lovebirds should rather exchange chocolates as gifts and increase Ghanaian-made products. Buy chocolate not only to show love but eat to also make your heart healthy, he added. The ace hiplife artiste and New Crystal Health Services are collaborating to organize a massive blood donation exercise at Ashaiman to mark the Valentines Day celebrations. The blood donation exercise is in reaction to reports that the National Blood Bank has been hit with acute shortage of blood, according to organisers.
