State Of The Nations Address: Our Expectations 2014

Sonetco Institute monitored with keen interest the 1st anniversary of H.E John Dramani Mahama and made deductions which we shared with our fellow country men and women. It is a constitutional mandate for all president to grace parliament and give an address on the state of our nation Ama Ghana. If the first anniversary is anything to go by then we would want to preempt our expectation to the president. We expect the president to give us a convincing and vivid account on the financial status of the country and results from the strategies deployed by BoG to arrest the running cedi. In the sector of agriculture, we expect him to share with Ghanaians what measures does his government have in-place to make sure our food security is guaranteed in the face of a brouhaha over GMO-genetic modified organism. We also want to know the practical step government is taking to make sure wastage in our agriculture is curbed. One area SI know can address any future cedi -dollar crises is to produce, consume, package and export our farm produce. SI will want to experience the pragmatic steps government and its marriage with private partnership to make headway with youth unemployment. We will always remind him of his promise to the youth during the 2012 campaign. How advanced is the youth enterprise fund and how Ghanaian it be devoid of political coloration. One sector dear to the our hearts as ideological and development think tank is social interventions and general infrastructural development. We expect a committed action, practical and holistic programs and policy to facilitated growth and development. Our roads, housing and trade must be given a result-oriented face-lit. We wish the president well into this tough year 2014. Eric E. Essel 0244381797 Kwasi Dawood 0246399412 Robert Ahiabenu 0242357975 Administrators; SONETCO Institute.
