One of Ghana�s popular and finest radio presenters, Frankie Taylor, has expressed gratitude to Ghanaians for their support, which enabled him to win the Best Music Promoter of the Year award at the Ghana DJ Awards held on Saturday February 22 at the National Theatre in Accra. The Ghana DJ Awards was organised by Merqury Republic Events to award hardworking Ghanaian DJs who have helped in promoting Ghanaian music in many ways. Frankie Taylor, who is still blooming with youthful exuberance, told BEATWAVES in an interview on Sunday morning that he �never expected to be recognised this way. It�s a great surprise and it means a lot; to any presenter, this is a great privilege. My brother, hmm! It is the work of God. I feel so honoured. I thank the Almighty God for giving me strength.� Speaking further Frankie declared, �I dedicate the award to T.B Joshua who is my mentor. I thank all my fans, my lovely wife Mrs. Princess Danso Taylor, Francis Poku, CEO of Hot FM for supporting me in diverse ways to get this far. I feel so motivated and encouraged.� Critics in the past had labelled Frankie as shy, but it was hard to tell during the interview. Looking relaxed and speaking openly, the ace broadcaster told BEATWAVES that he was grateful to his mother, Alice Arthur and wife Princess Danso-Taylor, who are his biggest fans and critics. The ace broadcaster, who was full of praise to God for winning the award, said he deserved the award because, for the past 15 years he has used his programmes on radio to promote Ghanaian music. As one man determined to change the entertainment industry in Ghana, Frankie Taylor, who many described as a brilliant and talented radio presenter, said the award will encourage him to work extra hard to meet the challenges ahead of him. According to the Kumasi-based radio giant, he owed his success to listeners of his popular African Express programme aired on Fox FM between 12:30pm and 3:00pm, as well as his dynamic and hardworking producers and the Chief Executive Officer of Fox FM, Francis, aka Afro, adding, �Without their support I couldn�t have come this far.� When asked where he draws inspiration from, he said he drew inspiration from the teachings of Prophet T.B Joshua, his mentor and his loyal and intelligent listeners. �It brings me much joy when I discover that through my show I have assisted in solving societal problems and contributed one way or the other to national development and progress,� he said. Frankie Taylor who is also the programmes manager of Fox FM in Kumasi, has won a number of awards. He stressed that the award given him served as a wakeup call for radio presenters and DJs to realize that they were moving to higher heights and therefore needed to re-equip themselves with what it takes for a presenter to get to the international level. He said Ghanaian presenters, DJs, and for that matter, those in the radio industry have a lot to offer mother Ghana by way of shaping the youth: �The majority of their clients are the youth and therefore our presenters have the potential to make or mar their development.� He therefore urged his colleague to design educative programmes that would shape the youth to become more disciplined and to inculcate in them the real Ghanaian culture.
