Former Ghana Premier League, Prince Tagoe, believes there is a lot of unwarranted praise for budding strikers in the local league and that leads to their inability to perform in foreign leagues. Tagoe, who topped the scoring charts in the 2004/2005 league season with 18 goals, explained that the attention has left many half-baked forwards feeling super- confident only to fail when they have the opportunity to play outside Ghana. � The hype over strikers in Ghana is too much. We are often very quick to say that the players are the best around but in reality, they are not that good. Playing outside Ghana is not easy and the strikers must be made aware of that fact�,said the former Hearts of Oak player in an interview with GH One Television this week. He continued: �The most talented players in Ghana will struggle if they are sent abroad so we must stop over praising them so they learn.� In recent times, the nation�s top scorers have struggled to make the break outside the country despite doing very well in Ghana. Emmanuel Baffoe�s sensational 21-goal haul in the 2011/2012 season with New Edubiase United got him a deal with South African PSL side, Mamelodi Sundowns but he failed to hold down a regular place there. Last season�s top scorer in Ghanaian league, Mahatma Otoo, play in Norway for Sogndal but he is yet to find the same form that got him 20 goals for Hearts of Oak.
