Ex Ghana Goalie Damba Wants Two Additional Goalkeeping Coaches At World Cup

Ex-Black Stars goalkeeper Abubakari Damba is calling for the Ghana Football Association to hire at least two extra goalkeeping coaches to boost the technical team and subsequently strengthen the goalkeeping aspect of the Black Stars during the World Cup. Ghana coach Kwasi Appiah has already reiterated his desire to employ an additional backroom staff for preparation before and during the World Cup but former Ghana shot-stopper says the goalkeeping division is the most relevant department that seriously require an additional hand. Damba believes that current goalkeepers coach Naasamu Yakubu will not be able to read and analyse the performance of his goalkeepers at the world cup unassisted. "Yes we have a goalkeepers trainer who is in charge of the goalkeepers on the field of play, selecting them for games and sits on the bench to do the corrections and support the head coach and the technical bench so far as the performance of the goalkeeper is concerned",Damba told Angel FM. "But it could have been very very good if they had an extra person or two extra persons who are very very vexed in the goalkeeping department to be able to read the goalkeepers' game plan in relation to the game plan of the team and pass the information to the main goalkeepers trainer who onward passes on the information to the head coach". "The main goalkeepers trainer on the bench cannot singularly see whatever is going on with the goalkeeper in post and so the two goalkeepers trainer who sits outside as backroom staff will help". "That is not to say that these two goalkeeping coaches will interfere in the work of the goalkeepers trainer but it just to make the goalkeeping position a little richer and little more productive.
