Peace Anyiam-Osigwe of Africa Movie Academy Awards (AMAA) has officially announced that after this year�s AMAA, she is stepping down as the Chief Executive Officer of the awards ceremony.
According to Peace, who made the declaration at the AMAA nominations party in South Africa last week, holding the position of CEO for the AMAA for 10 years was good enough.
�My last speech for tonight is for a reason. Ten years as the CEO of AMAA, for me it is one of those important things I have been talking about. This year I will be stepping aside �because I need to go back to work in the creative industry and help improve on the economy of the African creative industries. This is AMAA, it is for Africans. It was founded for all of us to grow this industry around the world and be recognized,� she said.
Peace holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Law and Political Science from the Oxford Brookes University, Oxford, U.K and a member of the Honourable Society of the Inner Temple for Barristers.
She is also a poet and writer of international repute with three highly regarded poetry books to her credit. Also a television talk-show host with a background in filmmaking as a producer, she is well known and respected across the entire African continent, the Diaspora and beyond.
Peace has not only been an inspiration to many African young women but is also best acknowledged across the African continent as the women who brought life to the African film industry; pushing the African films on international frontiers with the AMAA.
She told News One in an earlier interview that she would remain the president of the event and focus more attention on other areas of the AMAA like training of African youth in filmmaking while targeting African unity and encouraging buoyant economy for the creative industry and all.
