AshGold SC Reject GFA's ₵2,000 Compensation To Play FA Cup Game With Kotoko In Accra

The management of Ashanti-Gold SC have refused a GH₵ 2,000 compensation offered them by the Ghana Football Association to play premier league leaders Asante Kotoko in the MTN FA Cup quarter finals at the Accra sports stadium on Sunday. The Obuasi-based side had threatened not to honour the MTN FA Cup clash against their regional rivals if the organizers refuse to bear the cost of their travel, accommodation and other expenses for the game. Ghanasportsonline.com can confirm that the Executive committee of the Ghana Football Association held a meeting this afternoon and decided to foot the cost of the away team and offered them a GH₵ 2,000 but the Ashanti Gold management says the amount is not enough. "We told them (GFA) that we will not honour the game because it is to us a punishment to travel all the way to Accra to play an away game that was scheduled for Kumasi because of another club's in-actions so they called us this afternoon that they will offer us ₵2,000 but that amount is way too small to cover our expenses". Public Relations Officer Kofi Yawson told Angel FM. "This is not the first time they have done this to us, we travelled to Sekondi to honour a game and as at now the FA is yet to pay us and so we wouldn't let it happen again". "All the players and management team are in Obuasi and we will not start our engine unless they agree to our proposal to play the game in Kumasi behind closed doors or pay us an amount enough to cover our entire expenses".
