The South-Tongu District Assembly, has mapped out strategies to ensure effective revenue mobilisation. Mr Samuel Mawuko Eworyi, District Chief Executive (DCE), who made this known at the first ordinary meeting of the Assembly at Sogakope in the Volta Region, said this would assist the Assembly to collect enough revenue to enable it to meet its obligations. He said tax education, formation of revenue tax force, effective supervision and employment of additional revenue collectors are part of the strategies to enhance revenue mobilisation. Mr Eworyi proposed that a day should be set aside by the Assembly for all staff to go to the field to mobilise revenue. The DCE hinted the Assembly would undertake commercial fish farming as a means of generating additional revenue. He expressed concern about the manner in which structures are haphazardly sited in the Sogakope Township. �illegal structures are springing up rapidly without recourse to the bylaws of the Assembly,� he stressed. Mr Eworyi said property developers in the District should respect the building regulations of the Assembly. Mr Kobina Mensah Woyome, Member of Parliament (MP) for South-Tongu, expressed concern about publication of false reports about the Assembly in the media. He said allegations must be backed by evidence and advised the media to find out the truth before going public with any information. Mr Woyome asked the Assembly staff to ensure there is transparency in the performance of their duties.
