Controversial Ghanaian Dancehall artiste Shatta Wale has created the impression that he doesn't need any award from Charterhouse or better still VGMA, but it appears that might not be entirely the case. He released a �diss� song to Charterhouse after last year�s award stating categorically that he doesn't need any Ghana Music award and he maintained that stands throughout this year, prior to the awards. His absence at the awards ceremony last Saturday May 3 at the conference Centre further confirmed how needless the prestigious award is to him. However, the acclaimed dancehall king left people wondering if he truly doesn't need the award or perhaps it was just a publicity gimmick to boost his ego. Shatta Wale who won three awards on the night including the ultimate �Artiste of the year� in pure Shatta Wale fashion, arrived at the event grounds shortly after he was pronounced Artiste of the Year, to some loud cheers. Shatta was seen on top of a four wheel drive right in front of the Accra International Conference dressed in all-white attire celebrating with his fans for winning the same award he claims he didn't need. Meanwhile his management team led by Bulldog has explained that Shatta Wale's appearance at the venue after the award was just coincidental and that it was not planned.
