The Appeals Committee of the Ghana Football Association has upheld the Status Committee's decision ordering Accra Hearts Of Oak to pay their former coach David Duncan an amount of GH₵ 86,500 ($40,000) after the coach had reported the club to the federation claiming unlawful dismissal. The Status Committee of the Ghana Football Association slapped the huge fine on the Accra-based side five months ago after the coach had reported the club to the federation for unfairly been discharged from his duties a the head coach of the club in November last year. The hierarchy of Accra Hearts of Oak decided to appeal the decision by the status committee after filing for a stay of execution but the Appeals committee on Monday upheld the verdict by the status committee and ordered the 2000 CAF Champions league winners to compensate Duncan in that respect. The Phobians were also slapped with a GHc 5,000 fine over the conduct of their lawyers after they failed to appear before the committee during the status committee's previous sittings but the Appeals committee's new ruling has cut down on that, as Hearts of Oak will have to only pay half of that amount.
