Kwesi Appiah Named An Accurate World Cup Squad Frimpong-Manso

The Asante Kotoko legend and former Black Stars player is in awe of Kwesi Appiahs 26-man provisional squad selected for the World Cup. B.A United head coach Frimpong-Manso believes the provisional squad named for the summer Mundial in Brazil is the best Ghana have so far. The ex-Ghana international insists that Black Stars coach Kwesi Appiah treaded carefully in choosing his players, admitting that 26 players instead of 30 will ease unnecessary tension in camp. Im very happy with the squad because these players are the best available ones for the country [Ghana] and I know they can make us all proud, he told Kumasi-based Otec FM. Kwesi [Appiah] did the best thing by naming 26 players instead of the speculated number of 30 players. This will help him and the entire technical team to work very well and know who to choose and who to be dropped. Frimpong-Manso added: I even believe it will ease unnecessary tension in the camp when he announces his final 23-man squad for the tournament. He pointed out that no locally-based outfield player merits a call-up aside the goalkeeping department hence Appiah was right in selecting shot-stopper Stephen Adams. Our local boys are good but I don't think they can match the quality of players selected by the coach. These locally-based players need a lot of time to develop fully. If you ask me to prune the squad down to 23 players, it will be very difficult for me. Injuries, sickness and other factors must all be considered but I strongly believe the major casualties will come from the midfielders. At least, two of them will be dropped from the final squad.
