Ahead of the much anticipated Brazil 2014 soccer fiesta, President John Mahama hosted a dinner gala yesterday May 22, 2014 to send off the senior national team Ghana Black Stars in preparations for the tournament. In his speech, the President assured the footballers that the whole of Ghana would be behind the team, and charged them to make the country and indeed Africa proud at the tournament. The event which was attended by 24 out of the 26 previously announced squad, saw performances from Becca and Efya, and in attendance was some of Ghana�s world cup ambassadors including Jackie Appiah and Azumah Nelson, Vice President Paa Kwesi Bekoe Amissah-Arthur, Sports Minister, Hon. Elvis Afriyie Ankrah , GFA President Kwasi Nyantekyi, Yam Ampofo Ankrah, Former Sports Minister Yaw Osafo-Marfo among others. A match dubbed �Black Stars Farewell Match� is set come on today Friday May 23, 2014. It is the Black Stars versus the Dream Team, made up of players from Division Two, Division One and the Premiership. This is all towards the preparation to the world cup. The national football team will after today�s match head off to Netherlands on Saturday tomorrow May 24, where they will be camping and training before their friendly with the Netherlands national team at the end of the month. They will then move to Miami for more camping and training before another friendly with Korea, and then head off to Brazil on June 9 for the world cup soccer fiesta.
