Kotoko To Be Declared Champions on Sunday After DC Dismiss Medeama Protest

The Premier League Board can now crown Asante Kotoko as league champions at the Baba Yara Stadium in Kumasi on Sunday regardless of the leaders results in their Super Clash with Hearts of Oak after the Disciplinary Committee of the GFA DISMISSED a protest filed by Medeama against Aduana Stars. The dismissal means that Asante Kotoko are now confirmed Premier League champions since their 7 point lead on the log sheet has been maintained as a result of the dismissal of Medeamas protest. Had Medeama won the protest, Kotoko' lead at the top would have been cut to 5, therefore postponing Kotoko's Coronation until the final day. But Aduana backed their defence with proof of receipt received from the Ghana Football Association confirming payment. The Disciplinary Committee confirmed that Aduana paid the cost on on 30 April, 2014, thus before their Premier League fixture with Medeama on the same day. In dismissing the protest, a cost of GH3,000.00 has been awarded against Medeama.
