It has emerged Samini did not win the award for BEST INTERNATIONAL ACT at the Black Canadians Awards held in Canada last weekend, contrary to an earlier report. Saminis� team had relied on series of press publications on the subject, and came to the conclusion that their act had won. However further checks reveal the award went to Trinidad and Tobagao�s Destra Garcia. The category also had Nigeria�s Waje, South Africa�s Lira and Khuli Chana as well as the Bajan female Soca act Alsion Hinds as contenders. One, Julz of GhanaMixtapes, who was at the event and had relayed the information to the press, has since taken to Twitter to apologize to Samini. Samini has accepted his apology, saying �blunders do happen.� �Maybe i should have waited to see confirmation on the BCA site.� The earlier statement we published from Samini�s camp in the morning read: This week is all about �Multiple Award Winning� Artiste Samini as He gears up to Launch His solely owned �Plush Dancestardom Lounge and Restaurant in Sakaman� on the 13th and 14th of June 2014 which for an artiste is a huge investment as he looks to give back to society in many ways. Samini was reported to have won the Best International Act at the Black Canadian Awards. While we should have confirmed that He �indeed� won, we relied on the word of a representative in Canada who attended the event and was told Samini won the award as well as media reports just after the event, partly because the awardee was not announced at the ceremony. This information was relayed to other artistes by the representative. This is the first of such a blunder, but we are fully aware that such mishaps happen.
