Kwadwo Asamoah: I Want To Play Up Front

Ghana International Kwadwo Asamoah has emphasized that he want to play at his favourite midfield role rather than being deployed as a left-back by Kwesi Appiah. The Juventus powerman was assigned by coach Kwesi Appiah as a rearguard in Ghanas World Cup opener yesterday against the United State of America [USA]. Ghana lost to defensively well-ordered USA team by 2-1. Clint Dempsey sent the Stars and Stripes into the lead in less than a minute. His goal has been recorded as 5th fastest goal in World Cup history. Dempsey dribbled his way into the box to side-foot home but Andre Ayew equalised with eight minutes remaining after latching onto a beautiful back-heel pass from captain Asamoah Gyan. Substitute John Brooks header five minutes to end the game secured a first victory for the Americans over the Black Stars. Kwadwo Asamoah who was the fans favorite after their defeat believes things would have been different if he was maintained in the midfield. I am a player who likes to take on opponents, playing at the back makes it more difficult for me, I want to play up front but all lies with the decision of the coach, Asamoah told Accra-based Happy FM. Ghana will lock horns with Germany in a crunch battle on Saturday. The Stars are expecting to clinch their first three points to keep their World Cup hopes alive.
