Renowned Sports Presenter, Patrick Osei Agyemang, affectionately called Countryman Songo has called on President John Dramani Mahama to �shake up� the Ghana Football Association [GFA] after describing the current FA Boss, Kwesi Nyantakyi and his administration as �corrupt�.
According to him, the overstay of Kwesi Nyantakyi and his administration at the helm of the country�s sports, has cemented his alleged corrupt practices.
He stressed that irrespective of FIFA�s abhorrence of government�s interference in association football; the president must stamp his authority and ensure the right things are done at the FA since government also allocate funds for the running of the association.
�During hard times, the President [John Mahama] uses tax payers� money to finance the team. Though FIFA will refund the money, the president airlifted tax payers� money to Brazil. That autonomy at the FA must be checked. They [FA] cannot hide behind FIFA to rob the nation,� he said.
�I prefer FIFA to ban Ghana because of government�s inference in FA administration so we can restructure things (at the FA) to check corrupt practices,� he added.
Contributing to a panel discussion on PEACE FM�s flagship morning show, KOKROKOO on the performance of the early-exit of the Black Stars during the on-going 2014 World Cup in Brazil, Countryman Songo, blamed incompetence and lack of accountability on the part of the GFA president and his administration as the bane of the country�s football woes.
Whiles lauding the president for reliving Elvis Afriyie Ankrah and Joseph Yammin off their positions at the Sports Ministry, he insisted that a Commission of Inquiry be set up to probe the activities of the two not excluding financial expenditure during Ghana�s participation at the World Cup.
He also appealed to President Mahama to take immediate action to restructure the association or will face the heat of his �Ogyaa� [fire].
�Kwesi Nyantakyi is incompetent�he must leave the FA at all cost. He thinks he is the only one who can take decisions at the FA. After every tournament they [Black Stars] will perform shamefully, they will come back to say they are sorry. They [FA] think we [Ghanaians] are fools. All they want is money because the FA management has their share�His [Nyantakyi�s] only interest is in the Black Stars because that is where he gets his share of profit from.
��The national team belongs to president Mahama so if he can�t stamp his authority, if he fails to do that, fire burn him in a professional way,� he roared.
