Dr Alfred Oko Vanderpuije, Accra Metropolitan Chief Executive, has donated food items to the Lante Dzanwe clan for the celebration of the annual Ga Homowo festival in Accra. The items were made up of four bags of maize, two gallons of cooking oil, one carton of gin and undisclosed amount of money and were received on behalf of the clan by Nii Odartey Osoro, Acting Dantu Wulomo, Fetish Priest. The Lante Dzanwe Homowo comes off on Saturday, August 2. The delegation included Nii Lante Vanderpuye, Member of Parliament (MP) for Odododiodoo Constituency and the former MP, Nii Tackie Kommey. Dr Vanderpuije called on the traditional authorities to ensure peaceful observance of the Homowo celebration. He asked the youth not to indulge in anti-social activities to mar the beauty of the festival, reminding them that being the future leaders of Accra they should mould their character to become responsible adults. Nii Lante in an interview with Ghana News Agency said it had been customary with the National Democratic Congress (NDC) to join the people to celebrate the Homowo. We were doing this even when we were in opposition to share time with the people to ensure that the festival is free from violence. I entreat everyone to cooperate and avoid any negative tendencies. We have been working closely to ensure good relationship between government and the people. We will not allow anything to divide us, he said. Nii Odartey Osoro expressed gratitude to the Dr Vandepuiye, the MP and former MP for the kind gesture. Nii Odartey Osoro appealed to the team for the rehabilitation of the stool house.
