Ghana Has Not Recorded Ebola - Minister

The Minister of Health, Mr. Kweku Agyeman Mensah has said Ghana has not recorded any Ebola case and that the country was only taking precautionary measures to mitigate any eventuality. The Health Minister was interacting with port health officials, immigration officers and the police during a visit to the Elubo border in the Western Region. Mr. Alfred Ekow Gyan, the Deputy Regional Minister, was part of the team that visited the border. The Ministry of Health was working to ensure that all borders and entry points into the country was carefully put under surveillance to avoid the transportation of the ebola disease into the country. Meanwhile, the Western Regional Director of Health Services, Dr. Emmanuel Tinkorang, said proper hand washing with soap and water could help curb the spread of the disease. He said the Service had developed a screening tool to help screen immigrants at the various entry points. The Region has also set up a rapid response team to monitor and offer specialized care should a case be reported.
