NDC Has Lost Touch With Grassroots - Dan Abodapki

Mr Dan Abodakpi, a founder member of National Democratic Congress (NDC) has observed that leadership of the party has lost touch with the grassroots. Mr Abodakpi, also one of the aspirants vying for the national chairmanship position of the party, made the observation in Bolgatanga after touring the partys constituencies in the Upper East Region. He said if pragmatic measures are not taken to handle the situation, it would affect the fortunes of the party in the 2016 general election. Mr. Abodakpi said the grassroots are the base of the party and pledged to offer transformational leadership that would help empower the NDC to address the issue if he is given the mandate by the partys delegates. There is disconnection between the party leadership and the party executives particularly at the grass root levels. I will ensure that the roots of the party are truly anchored. I will reconnect the party with the mass base and to also ensure that the party assumes supremacy to anchor the Presidency to fully fulfill the execution of its social contracts, he said. Mr Abodakpi entreated the party executives to be patient and civil so as to help create and sustain unity and peace within the NDC for it to retain power in 2016. He said he would bring his rich experience to bear to ensure that the party remains in power in the forthcoming general election. Mr Abodakpi served the country as a Minister of Trade and Industry and also as a Member of Parliament for 16 years for Keta and currently a member of the National Executive Council of the party.
