Porturphy Must Resign As NADMO Boss Concerned NDC Executives

Some constituency executives of the governing National Democratic Congress (NDC) wants Aspiring National Chairman, Kofi Portuphy to resign from his current position as National Coordinator for the National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO). Calling itself the Concerned Branch Executives, the NDC activists describe the continuous stay in office by Mr. Porturphy as not only setting a very bad precedent to the youths but also, nurturing a very bad habit for most young politicians. In a news release issued Tuesday August 12, 2014, the group stressed the NADMO Coordinator must step down in the spirit of fairness and the principles of the democratic tenets on which "the great NDC was built." Below is a copy of the statement copied to Peacefmonline.com A SOLEMN CALL ON MR KOFI PORTUPHY TO RESIGN AS THE NADMO BOSS We the concern under listed branch executives of the ruling National Democratic Congress wishes to SOLEMNLY call on the National Disaster Management Boss Mr Kofi Portuphy to humbly resign his position in the spirit of fairness and the principles of the DEMOCRATIC TENATS on which the great NDC was built. As much as we welcome divergent views and competition in the NDC, the intention of Mr. Portuphy so clearly expressed on various platforms across the country is a welcome news to us all.We are very happy and welcome the declared intentions of the NADMO BOSS to contest the high office of the chairmanship of our great party and we wish him well. As concerned executives of the very basic foundation of the party (THE GRASSROOT), we want to advise him to step down as the National Disaster Management Organisations National Coordinator. However, his continuous stay in office is not only setting a very bad precedent to the youths but also nurturing a very bad habit for most young politicians. We believe while trying to contest another position has not only brought a sharp division in the YOUTH FRONT across the country but also in the very basic existence on which the party is laid, (our democratic credentials). Our call is motivated by our strong believe in the tenets of democracy and fairness and the need to create a level playing ground for all who aspire to contest any position in the party. As a social democratic party, the NDC cherishes and upholds the virtues and values of morality, decency and integrity; values that remain the hallmark of a social democrat. As the facts unfold, perspiration and discomfort should not shake old bones. So far, months of accumulated evidence before us signal very interesting days ahead. We will not miss a step nor sing dirges for those unlikely to escape. We call on Mr. Portuphy to immediately relinquish his position at NADMO to concentrate on his campaign which will save his own image and interest, the Party and the Presidency of any embarrassment. His continued stay in office will run ultra vires to the Presidents campaign against any form of corruption in officialdom. The ravaging perception of relief items being bussed to unknown destinations across the country must cease! Lets remind ourselves by the words of Matti, Former President of Cuba that A true man does not seek the path where advantage lies, but rather the path where duty lays, and this is the only practical man, whose dream of today will be the law of tomorrow, because he who has looked back on the essential course of history and has seen flaming and bleeding peoples seethe in the cauldron of the ages knows that, without a single exception, the future lies on the side of duty. We take the opportunity to congratulate him for his desire to serve our Great Party in the sought capacity. We call on the teeming faithful and ever-hard working supporters of the National Democratic Congress to fully rally and stand resolute behind our President, John Dramani Mahama as he consolidate the few gains that we have chalked, despite the recent economic downturn and other challenges facing our beloved country. We are blessed to have a President, who is so truthful and sincere to the Ghanaian people as he signals the country of better days ahead, in the midst of those that continue to sing dirges, albeit, the doctor has handed the patience the discharged bill. As we reflect on the days ahead, we should remind ourselves on the values that bind us as soldiers of the National Democratic Congress.
