NSA Boss Lauds CCML

Mr Joe Kpenge, Director General of the National Sports Authority (NSA), has expressed his gratitude to the Christian Community Micro-finance Limited (CCML), a subsidiary of the Christian Council of Ghana and the Gold Star Airlines for their massive support to the Ghana Amputee Football Federation (GAFF) to prepare towards the 2014 Amputee World Cup in Mexico. He said the sponsorship had come as a huge relief for the Federation and the Ministry of Youth and Sports that is struggling for funds to support the lesser sports to grow, especially amputee football. Mr Kpenge made these remarks when he launched the CCML Amputee Football League aimed preparing the Amputee Football team for the upcoming Amputee World Cup on Monday at the Accra Sports Stadium. The Director General said organization of Sports requires adequate funding and the Ministry alone cannot shoulder this responsibility in view of the financial commitment and the huge expenditure involved. He commended the Goldstar Airlines and the CCML for their contribution towards the development of sports in the country, in the area of amputee football. Mr Asare Ankomah, Head of Operation of the CCML who announced 100,000 ghc to support the league pledged the company�s continued assistance to Amputee Football development in the country. He said the CCML dived into Amputee Football to strengthen �our corporate image, popularity and future expansion plans, adding that; �we are supporting the amputees league because they need care to make their league powerful.� Mr Eric Bannerman, Chief Executive Officer of the Goldstar Airlines, also expressed their preparedness to fly the players to Mexico and back as part of their support to the Amputee Football Federation. Mr Kuku Dsane, Acting President of the Ghana Amputee Football Federation (GAFF) explained that the training league was aimed at identifying talents for further selection into the national team who would participate in the Mexico World Cup. He expressed gratitude to the CCML and Goldstar Airlines for their support and the nation. Mr Dsane said the inter-regional training league would involved the Northern Sector Team �A� playing with Southern Sector Team �C� at the Accra Technical Training Centre park, while Southern Team �A� meets Northern Team �B� at the Lizzy Sports Centre and Northern Team �C� meets Southern Team �B� on August 23, 2014.
