The internal strife within the New Patriotic Party (NPP) appears to be worsening by the day with the Third National Vice Chairman of the opposition party sounding a word of caution to the party's General Secretary. Frederick Fredua (F.F) Antoh expressed worry over the turn of events in the party that has ignited needless controversy and public discourse of party internal affairs. General Secretary, Kwabena Agyapong, seems to be in the news for all the wrong reasons following his unpopular decision to remove some officers serving in various capacities at the Headquarters. Last Friday, Acting Director of Communications, Perry Okudzeto, was asked to proceed on two years� accumulated leave by Mr Agyapong; a move that has angered the rank and file of the opposition party. Speaking to Kwami Sefa Kayi, host of �Kokrokoo� on Peace FM, the NPP�s Third Vice-Chair described Kwabena Agyapong action as a "unilateral decision" and on the blind side of the National Executive Committee (NEC). F.F Anto, who denied any prior knowledge of the party�s General Secretary�s decision, stated emphatically that "taking measures in the party does not reside in the bosom of one man. It�s the National Executive Committee that only has the right to make appointments in this party." "We�re all members of the Steering Committee of the National Executive Committee. So, we cannot make any decision without authorization from the National Executive Committee,� he pointed out. He also wondered why Mr. Agyapong would apparently stab the leaders in the back by asking Perry Okudzeto to proceed on leave when the party's Steering Committee consensually has chosen him to be the Deputy. �I�m sure it�s the unilateral decision of Kwabena (Agyei Agyapong) and that�s not the appropriate way. "...In fact, the issue regarding Perry Okudzeto has been under discussion and we even agreed tentatively before we present it before the National Executive Committee, to be the Deputy�It�s inappropriate. Kwabena Agyapong alone doesn�t have the right to make those appointments...because it is rumored that he wants to replace all the people there with his sympathizers.�
