The aspiring Greater Accra Regional Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Mr Jonathan Tackie-Komme, has observed that the 2016 general election might not be easy for the NDC government, hence the need for the party delegates to select grass-roots leaders who would steer the affairs of the party to victory. According to him, history had made it abundantly clear that the general politicking of the Ghanaian electorate was such that after two terms in office, the tendency to change the government was high. �However, with the selection of good leaders and those who have direct contact with the grass roots of the party, another history can be written,� he said in an interview with the Daily Graphic during the annual Ga-Mashie Homowo celebration last Saturday. Bringing grass roots together He indicated that when voted into office, he would ensure that he brought all the grass roots within the Greater Accra Region under one umbrella to canvass for more votes to win the 2016 general election. Mr Tackie-Komme, a former two-time Member of Parliament (MP) for the Odododiodoo Constituency, stated that he had the organisational capabilities to lead the party to victory, especially within the Greater Accra Region. He further indicated that he would do his best to unify sections of the party faithful who were aggrieved, adding that �failure to bring these people together might cause us dearly as a party.� Charm and charismatic leadership While admitting that his competitors were equally good, he indicated that he had the charm and charisma that the grass roots needed to be able to win power for the party in the region. He further added that he would bring innovations into the party when voted as the regional chairman. �During my tenure as the Branch Chairman, Youth Organiser and later Organiser of the NDC, I was able to bring a lot of innovations into the party. So I can do it again when given the mandate this time,� he assured.
