Despite the laborious process it went through in electing new national executives at Tamale, restructuring the party and appointing new directors at the secretariat level, the New Patriotic Party, according to Mr. Ben Ephson, is bound to remain in opposition for the next four years. The renowned pollster made this assessment on Peace FM hours after news broke that machete wielding NPP activists swarmed the party�s headquarters to cause mayhem. According to Mr. Ben Ephson, yesterday�s upheaval is only a minute part of the general tension brewing within the party. According to him, the factions that make up the NPP are equal to the �mixture one arrives at after you have mixed �gari� and sand at home�. �As at now, we have only heard of fights in Accra; so you can simply imagine what is happening in the other Regions where people are clubbing others. But in all this, NPP must know that it would be extremely difficult for them to merge factions they have created�. "Do you think after fighting, their own members would be willing to come out in their numbers to vote for whoever gets elected as flagbearer in 2016? These are signs of what is going to happen to the NPP in 2016. It will be extremely difficult for them to come to power in 2016," he surmised.
